JV volleyball girls end season with win over Baldwin

The Kamehameha Schools Maui JV girls volleyball team won all of their sets against Baldwin on Friday, Oct. 11, at Ka’ulaheanuiokamoku Gymnasium, capping off a 10-3 winning season.

Even though there was a small but supportive audience that included the JV cheerleaders cheered the team on.

In the first set, the Warriors won with a big lead, 21-13, but they fought for the win in the second set winning by one point, 21-20.

In the third set, the team dominated and won with a score of 21-8. The girls played an extra fourth set, which the Warriors also won handily with a score of 14-4.

The girls were happy to finish the season with a win. Freshman Kortney Russell said, “It shows all of our accomplishments as a whole.”

“It was cool making connections with teammates,” she said.

At the end of his first year as the head coach of the JV team, Coach Duke Josiah said, “It was really fun this year…the girls made it really fun, and they worked really hard.”
