Warriors fall to Nā Aliʻi in last season game

The Warriors boys volleyball team fell short in their last season game against King Kekaulike on Thursday April 23 at King Kekaulike’s home gymnasium.
“I think the boys could’ve done a lot better than what they did,” assistant coach Kekoa Uyechi said.
Uyechi also said that the team made a lot of service errors and did not set-up blocking efficiently.
Despite mistakes, the Warriors held their own in the first two sets. In the first set, the Warriors lost by only four points, losing the set 25-21. From there the Warriors advanced to 1-1 winning the second set, 25-22.
It wasn’t until the third and fourth sets that the score differentials grew.
“We didn’t play to our potential,” Keawe Rindlisbacher said.
Rindlishbacher also agreed that there was a lack of blocking in this game.
In the third set the Warriors fell, 25-18, and the game was ended with a fourth set King Kekaulike win of 25-17.
Senior Ionatana Tua was the kill leader of this game with a total of 10 kills and 21 kill attempts.
Keawe Rindlisbacher and Haweo Johnson were both second highest at seven kills.
This was the last season game for the Kamehameha Maui boys volleyball team. Overall the team placed fourth in the regular season and hope to reach at least third at their upcoming play-off tournament.
The team is participating in the Maui Interscholastic League play-offs on Tuesday April 28 at 6:30 p.m. If the team wins, they will carry on to the semifinals, which will be played on Wednesday April 29 at 5 p.m. The MIL Division 1 finals will be played on May 1 at 5 p.m.
