The Kamehameha Maui Warriors set up for another play. The Warriors won their first season regular game against Nā Aliʻi, Dec. 27.

Last night, Dec. 27, boys basketball won their first game of the season against King Kekaulike, 60-45.

“We played with all of our intensity and effort but we could have played more disciplined and smarter,” Austin Peters said.

This affected the way the boys played in the first half. It “caused a lot of fouls and turnovers…that were unnecessary,” he said, but the Warriors stayed on top of the scoreboard throughout the whole game.

“We were able to win tonight because even though we strayed off of our game plan, we were able to execute our game plan for most of the game,” Peters said.

As captain, Peters is proud of the underclassmen and what they accomplished on the court.

“The underclassmen are a big part of our team, and tonight they played well but I know that they will constantly continue to get better and push the entire team to excel.”

The boys basketball team will be play their next game on Saturday at the Lahaina Civic Center against Lahainaluna at 7:30 p.m.
