How to: Oreo Reese’s cookie turkeys
Thanksgiving is just a few days away, and I’m thankful for desserts!
Though pumpkin pie, pumpkin squares, and apple tarts are a tradition for my family, they aren’t quite as cute as an edible cookie and candy turkey.
The Oreo cookie turkey has been making the rounds on the Internet, each with its own variation.
This is my own twist on the easy treat.
Everyone can help with this fun recipe that doesn’t require any cooking.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Yeild: 1.5 dozen turkeys
What you’ll need:
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 bag Resse’s pieces
1 container chocolate Oreo’s
1 bag mini peanut butter cups
1 bag chocolate-covered malt balls
1 container vanilla frosting
3 drops red food coloring
Directions:
- Pour 1 cup of chocolate chips in microwave safe bowl. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds-1 minute to melt.
- Stir chocolate chips together in bowl so they melt evenly.
- Mix one spoonful of icing with 3 drops of red food coloring in small bowl.
- Place icing into a small Ziploc bag. Cut a small hole in one of the bottom corners of the bag.
- Repeat with white icing.
- Dip 1 mini peanut butter cup in the melted chocolate and stick it on an Oreo.
- Repeat with a malt ball.
- Place 5-7 Reese’s Pieces into the icing of the Oreo to make the turkey’s feathers.
- Using the white icing, make a beak on the malt ball. Do the same thing with the red icing to make the wattle. Be sure to place the red wattle below the white beak.
- Separate an Oreo cookie, and stand your turkey on the icing.
- Smile because you just made a really simple and cute dessert!
