Win a prize from Dua Lipa
The rising British pop star Dua Lipa is holding a contest for young students (13 – 19) from all schools who love creative writing, art and videos. This contest is built on her new hit song, “New Rules.” The contest will run from Nov. 1o through Dec. 15 with the winners announced on Dec. 18.
There will be five winners, and each winner will receive a prize of a woman’s Dua Lipa New Rules t-shirt, a waffle bathroom robe, a women’s pair of black furry slides, a yellow flamingo New Rules bag, and/or a black Dua Lipa canvas tote, all items featured in her new hit “New Rules” video.
Entries can be videos, lip syncs, essays, illustrations, graphics, haikus, poetry, video, art–or any other medium a student may wish to utilize. Submissions should be sent to [email protected] with the hashtag, #DuasNewRules. Judging will be taking place at MOXIE, Warner Bros Records, where Dua Lipa will select winners based on the following: originality (25%), creativity (25%), self-expression (25%), and inspirational quality (25%).
When the song was first released the responses from her fans inspired Dua Lipa to have fans upload covers and lip syncs of “New Rules” online, tagging #DuasNewRules. This resulted in a collaboration of videos showcasing how fans of the song connected with Dua Lipa. She is now extending the invitation to high school students.
Dua Lipaʻs “New Rules” gave her credibility. In her past she speaks of her feminist identity and how she tries to involve it in every aspect of her music. “New Rules” presents that messages in a trendy way, with the music video featuring an all-female crew lifting each other up when they’re in doubt.
“New Rules” is an amazing song and music video teaching young females the true values of themselves. This contest is not only an opportunity to take home a grand prize but also to better yourself in your creativity.
For “New Rules” swag, including posters and bookmarks, stop by the desk outside Ms. Hainaʻs room (x-126) starting Nov. 27. Pick up some promo materials for other Warner Bros. artists, too, including Marteen Estevez and Taylor Swift.
