Cut to the Chase: I ❤️ WandaVision!
Caution! WandaVision spoilers!
Last Friday, I spent a few hours curled up on the couch with a blanket, a bowl of popcorn, and a few well-chosen snacks (peanut M&M’s are my fave); I was ready to watch the WandaVision Season One finale.
Or so I thought.
It had been about a year since any Marvel content was released, and I was absolutely starved for my next favorite movie. Also, was anyone else absolutely wrecked by Avengers: Endgame? ‘Cause I was.
I mean, COME ON “I love you 3,000,” and “I’ll see you in a minute.” It was a sad day in the movie theatre.
A year later, and I can honestly say that I forgot about the devastating death scene starring Wanda, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Vision, played by Paul Bettany, in Avengers: Infinity War.
Then Disney announced the new series with an awesomely creepy trailer, and I realized three things.
1. Wanda is already traumatized with the deaths of her family, friends and lover.
2. Vision is somehow alive again; which is weird ’cause I remember a fairly painful death scene starring him, Wanda and Thanos.
3. Nothing bad happens in sitcoms, but Wanda has never struck me as particularly stable.
Therefore, I absolutely had to watch it.
The series takes viewers through the many excellent decades of sitcoms and intense character growth, and–in typical Marvel fashion–there are twists and turns in every which direction and ever-changing red herrings. Each episode brings us closer to the climax of the series and the reveal of Wanda’s true power.
This series is a must see! It has multitudes of Easter eggs and some of the best character development I’ve seen from Marvel. WandaVision brings together a cast full of Marvel’s most underrated, including Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo.
With the end of WandaVision Season One comes the next round of awesome. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to premiere on March 19, just in time for the second week of Spring Break!
