Softball played Nā Aliʻi for the third time this season at Eddie Tam field Friday with the Warriors taking the win, 6-3.

“We got out to a weak start and made a lot of mental errors,” Warriors Head Coach Angus Peters said, “but once they refocused and threw all those errors out of their heads, they rebounded, and ended up playing a great game.”

The game started off slowly for the Warriors, who were down three to zero in the first two innings. Several girls got on base, but didn’t make it all the way home.

Then, at the top of the third inning, the Warriors landed their two home runs by junior, Megan Miguel and sophomore, Montana Vaught.

“I believe that if we had a better warm up and a better mindset going into the game, the first part of the game would’ve had a much better outcome,” freshman Kiana Nagasako said.

Near the end of the fourth inning, Kamehameha scored again, evening their score with Nå Aliʻi, 3-3.

Firing up the fifth inning, the Warriors brought another three players home. This half of the inning ended with Māhie Kama stranded at third, and the girls went back to defense.

In their previous games against their upcountry rivals, Nā Ali’i, they equally shared both a win and a loss. Kamehameha won the first game 13-3, while Kekaulike walked away with the second game 8-6.

In the end, the upper hand of Friday’s game went to the Warriors, who wrapped it up with no further points made by either team in the sixth and final inning.
