On Monday night, Josh McCown suffered a gruesome hit in the third quarter with 3:28 to go. After throwing a pass intended for Travis Benjamin, he was hit immediately after releasing the ball by Baltimore’s Timmy Jernigan and Courtney.

He has told sources that he is in a lot of pain and he is scheduled to take X-Rays for his collarbone. In the fourth quarter, he jogged to the locker room and was seen wearing a sling after the game. Head coach Mike Pettine confirmed the injury after the game.

Throughout the season, McCown has been very effective for the Browns. According to team statistics, he has had a passer rating of 95 in eight starts.

If he was younger, the Browns wouldn’t even half to consider putting Manziel in. So the question remains — who will fill his spot for the next game?

Austin Davis played for him in a drive where he threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Travis Benjamin. Davis had 77 yards through the air, completing seven out of 10 passes.

Johnny Manziel, who was benched, could be another option. However, a video of him partying in Austin Texas surfaced during the Cleveland’s bye week, just one week after Cleveland named him their starter for the season.

It was later revealed that Manziel lied to head coach Mike Pettine about when the video was taken and also got a friend to lie on his behalf too.

At the moment, it seems like Austin Davis is the ideal starter. He showed he can find success Monday night and also doesn’t have trust issues with the coaches like Manziel does. With all the controversy surrounding him, it seems Manziel will be benched and Austin Davis will probably start until Josh McCown returns.
