Sophomore Nadia Apo-Takayama receives guidance from Head Coach Rodney Carillo at Maui Bowling Cemter, Aug. 26. Both Warriors teams won against Kihei Charter, 3-0 and 3-0.

The Maui Warriors had their second victory of the season over Kihei Charter School.

With high spirits, the Warriors pulled a 3-0 victory on both the boys and girls sides from their opponents. Kamehameha scored consistently higher than Kihei Charter with the biggest difference in scores being 629-420.

“They did very well. I think we have the best boys and girls team. I really do. My girls are really good, I really have confidence in the girls. The boys are starting to get better, but overall today they did really well,”  Head Coach Rodney Carillo said.

The Warriors were a dominant force and in complete control of the games. The Warriors remained consistent and put out their best effort. All athletes would applaud and cheer for their teammates throughout the match, supporting each other to the end, but everyone recognized the need to improve for the season ahead.

“They maybe need to have more focus and concentration. They seem to lose focus sometimes. Other than that, if they listen to what the coaches teach, they are getting better,” Coach Carillo said.

He said that he believes the teams can keep their streaks going. Especially when they face the powerhouse Baldwin Bears on Sept. 2.

“I’m very confident in this. I think we’ll be okay. Next week will be a big game, so I will know after next week, but I think we’ll be okay. We’ll be fine,” he said.

With spirits high and room and readiness for improvement, the potential for a good season is definitely there.
