Scrooge’s nephew, Fred, played by senior Kanoa Yap, imitates his uncle in a game of ‘Yes or No’ in the drama department’s production of ‘A Christmas Carol.’ The Ghost of Christmas Present, sophomore Ka’ili Mossman, is an eerie presence in the background.

The KSM drama department did their last run of A Christmas Carol December 10-11 at Keopuolani Hale.Senior Kanoa Yap played the roles of Young Scrooge and Scrooge’s nephew, Fred. This was Yap’s first year in the drama department.

“Being a senior in my first year of drama was very exciting. I felt a sense of leadership that I would have to live up to, but at the same time it was only my first year.” Yap said.

Yap first became involved in theater last summer when he performed in South Pacific as a soldier.

“Drama is a very welcoming place for everyone and I had so much fun. I can’t wait to do it again,” said Yap.

Freshman Shane Borge played the lead role of Scrooge to Yap’s Fred. In the play, Scrooge, a crotchety old man, learns his lesson from three mysterious ghosts of Christmases past, present and future.

A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story was written by Jerry R. Montoya and based upon the original story by Charles Dickens. Directed by local Mr. William Makozak, this play features a set by Ms. Caro Walker, costumes by Ms. Andre Morisette, and lighting by KSM theater teacher, Ms. Camille Romero.
