Tuesday was Senior Pink-Out Day, a day to show senior pride by wearing pink to school. As part of the celebration, myself and fellow seniors Lauren Kalama and Cruz Braun grab a Sausage McMuffin from Mrs. Kaaa before heading to class.

Ka Papa ‘Iliahi, the senior class, wore pink Tuesday as a way to not only show class spirit, but to celebrate the strength of pushing through their not-so-normal senior year.

In the morning, class advisers Mrs. Kaaa and Kumu Aiwohi passed out breakfast sandwiches to seniors as a gesture of appreciation.

“Just like the rain, the campus was flooded with pink from the senior class. It was so nice to see again,” class president Lauren Kalama said.

While pushing to plan large senior events, student government also tries to incorporate small ones to bring excitement to the last weeks of their class’s senior year.

“The members of student government have spent countless hours and have proposed multiple ideas to staff and administration, and they continue to do their best,” Mrs. Kaaa said. “In all of their planning, they have always kept the interest of their classmates at the forefront.”

Although it has been a rough year for the seniors, they have made the best out of their situation and continue to persevere.

“With all that has happened this year, we [student government] truly enjoy seeing our classmates find happiness in the little things,” Kalama said.

Sofia Stupplebeen, the senior class vice-president, was excited to come to school today to share her class spirit alongside her classmates.

“I think that being able to wear pink today gave our class some hope in these difficult times,” she said.
